Summer Camp Sunday

Summer Camp Sunday

We woke to rain this morning, and the mountain weather forecast didn’t look great, so we switched some things around a bit. We had planned to go to Black Moss Pot but it seemed more appropriate to do archery and kayaking with the Scouts while the Explorers did some pioneering. Today on the lake there was a yacht race so it was fun watching the sailors passing by from our Kayaks. The kayaking is part of two new badges we are having a go at. The new Paddlesport and Time on the water badges.  The badge involves knowing all about how to recognise different types of boats and what to do to take part in a safe and enjoyable watersports session.

After a break for lunch the Scouts swapped activities and the Explorers took to the water in a raft they had made.

Their challenge was to rescue a stranded maiden from her floating prison..

The construction must have been good because it floated successfully and the stranded maiden was rescued in style. While this was happening the Scouts played Kayak games to practice their skills. The session ended with a trip to the other side of the  bay. Then it was time for tea – chicken fajitas and rice pudding. After evening inspection the Scouts played wide games and the Explorers did tree climbing. Everyone one is looking forward to tonight’s supper of hot chocolate.
