Cubs visit Sunderland RNLI

Cubs visit Sunderland RNLI

We had a really great visit to the RNLI station at Roker on Tuesday, it would have been even nicer if all the cubs had attended but never mind. The chap who was talking to us was very informative and knew all there was to know about the boats. There were two but we only got to look at the smaller one, the bigger one was being used in a photo shoot for their website, there was a photographer there taking pics of all the volunteers. While we were there they had an emergency call out which was very exciting as all the alarms and beepers went off. They had to get all their gear on and launch the boat, they have to attach it to a special crane to launch, it was quite a sight. Thomas had a go at putting on the gear which was really funny, the guys at the station do it in 2 minutes but it took him about 10 lol, we then took him outside and tested the suit for leaks, i think the cubs thought that was great. As they had an official photographer there i was the perfect opportunity to hand over the cheque from Cubs Got Talent, from the tombola, selling hot dogs, cakes, tea n coffee we managed to raise £120!! A fantastic amount. A great big thank you to all the parents and other family members for helping make it a succesful night. The lifeboat crew said they would try to put our photo on their website so that is something to look out for. I will get the photos on as soon as poss.
