The day started – for the Explorers waking on St Herbert’s Island. After a brief breakfast of hit chocolate and cereal bars we headed ashore. Our homes for the night had been a small tent, a i bivi bag, a hammock and a shelter made with a plastic tarp.
When we arrived back on site the Scouts were beginning their morning inspection. The Explorers cooked breakfast while the Scouts did badge work. We then all left the site for Grizedale Forest. Some of us chose to do the “Go Ape” treetop adventure course and some of us chose to go on the segways. When we got back it was time for the cooking competition – the time of the week when the Scouts get creative and decide what – three course meal they’d like to cook. Leaders sample the food and mark it on presentation, taste, and preparation. After dinner we created a cheap imitation of a xorb ball by tying two inner tubes together and rolling down the hill. Sean and Dan held he record for longest roll.
