Disability Awareness – Visual Impairments

Tonight was the final night of our Disability Awareness badge.  We had a lovely lady called Helen Rogers from the RNIB come down to have a chat with the cubs and do a few fun activities.  The night went really well.  The cubs were very enthusiastic trying the goggles that represented various visual impairments like glaucoma and cataracts, they were very effective and gave the cubs a brief glimpse of what it would be like to live with an eye disease.  We did several activities, tying shoelaces blindfolded, putting toothpaste on toothbrushes blindfolded, pouring a drink into a cup blindfolded and making a sandwich, also blindfolded. Everyone participated with gusto and it was a very positive and educational night.
