Had a great day today split between archery/air rifle shooting and Kayaking.
Both kayaking groups played games to get used to the Kayaks and had a trip to Bowness Bay to see St Begas church. The trip out onto the lake allowed us to see just how big it really is and to see some of the locations for other activities we will be doing later in the week.
We finished each session with raft games. Dan took the prize for being the most daring and getting wet the most. The afternoon group had a go at turtling – swimming along with their heads inside an upturned kayak submarine style. Ben now holds the record for staying under the longest.
The liquid sunshine didn’t effect our activities at all apart from giving us extra water to kayak in.
The camp Olympic practices for archery and air rifle shooting went ahead as planned.
Highest score on shooting went to Dan and the closest to the bull for free tuck shop sweets went to Dean. They surely must be favourites for the Camp Olympic finals later in the week.
For our world foods evening meal todays menu came from China with turkey stir fry and noodles.
It went down very well with the Scouts and Leaders.
The evening was spent playing wide games after which we retired to the big tent for supper and the chance to watch Bolt win the gold on Mr Lloyd’s iPad.
The only cause for concern during all of the heavy rain was the river running through the leaders’ tent.
Dan wanted to experiment with a mouthful of coke and popping candy at the same time.
