With it being blackberry season we had a go at making jam. OK we cheated slightly – after two unsuccessful foraging missions we ended up having to buy some blackberries but the jam was very impressive nonetheless.
The day started – for the Explorers waking on St Herbert’s Island. After a brief breakfast of hit chocolate and cereal bars we headed ashore. Our homes for the night had been a small tent, a i bivi bag, a hammock and a shelter made with a plastic tarp....
Another dry day weather wise gave us a chance to get wet doing activities. The Scouts got the chance to go gorge walking and climbing while the explorers prepared to spend the night at St Herbert’s island on Derwent Water.
Today was hike day. The weather wasn’t quite so great – a bit cloudy – or “grey” as the weather forecast said. The sun did out in an appearance later though ready for wash night. The Scouts and Explorers all had a nice hot water wash....
