Beamish Flag Day 2019

Beamish Flag Day 2019

For the second year in a row, our group was well represented at Beamish’s ‘Empire and Flag Day’, celebrating the service of young people in the past & present. Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts spent the day exploring Beamish, which of course meant a visit to the sweet shop, before joining in with hundreds of other uniformed youth groups from across the region.

We were marching in the blazing sun last year, but it was a tad different this year, as the ‘liquid sun’ decided to pour down on us! Being true Scouts though, it didn’t dampen our spirits one bit! Our flags were unfurled, our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were assembled, and we were ready by 2:30pm for the parade from Pockerley, down through the Town, finishing up on the events field.

It truly is a fantastic sight to see so many youth groups represented, supported by their leaders and parents/carers.

Thank you to all of our young people for turning out! And to their families & friends who joined us for the parade (or for some, the day!). We hope you enjoyed it.
