Scouts hit t’road on Saturday, 14th March and travelled to the longest show cave in England, White Scar Cave.
Heading deep into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, we passed some stunning scenery en route, including the home of Wensleydale Cheese. We arrived at the cave in good time, had our lunch and then it was time to put on our hard hats!
Our private guided tour lasted around an hour and a half. We learned about the history of the cave, the explorers who first crawled through it, when the underground waterfall was discovered, and even seen some witches fingers…
We had a brief stop at Ribblehead Viaduct, part of the Settle-Carlisle railway line, before continuing homeward.
