Superb day today the sun is shining and the ground is really starting to dry out 🙂
Sorry for the delay in sending updates it took a while to charge the iPad. Good news is Robin who runs Beavers now has the blogging app too and is writing yesterday’s entry so you can catch up.
USA was the home of breakfast with everyone tucking in to hash browns and cinnamon French toast.
After breakfast we went over to Whinlatter with the mountain bikes for a mountain bike downhill. Half the group had a go on the outdoor climbing while the other half cycled along part of the c2c route. First of all we had a session to make sure that everyone knew how to use the gears and brakes properly ready for the downhill ride. Some of the Scouts found the route a little challenging but everyone managed to get down in one piece. Prize for both the most impressive wipeout and best bike control go to Tom.
Back at the site we had an “Argentinian” lunch of corned beef sandwiches.
2012 is Olympic year so we can’t let camp go by without having some kind of Olympic events.
Our “camp” Olympic events include 100m, cricket ball throwing and long jump – all parts of the Athlete Badge. We added mountain biking, kayaking and swimming to the events and the Scouts encouraged the leaders to race too.
We’ve stopped for the cooking competition now. Each patrol are cooking a three course meal using recipes they chose earlier in the week. One patrol are cooking carbonara pasta for their starters, chicken stir fry and banoffe pie. The other patrol did ham and vegetable soup, handmade burgers with potato in a cheese sauce and banana split.
It’s a beautiful sunny evening and were getting ready to finish off our Olympics with archery, air rifle shooting and giant angry birds. We have gingerbread medals to award at the end of the events. We’re working on a short film trailer to show everyone what we have been up to.
Can see it’s been an action packed week but V intrigued by giant angry birds!! 😉
Looks like you are all having a great time and the weather has not been too bad. I wish I could have been with you, especially for the downhill cycling, that’s the type I like best :0) .It looks like we will have lots of badges to present, just like Olympic Gold Medals. Enjoy the rest of your time and I look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.
